Green Spaces and Parklets
Unpacking the parklet concept and spontaneous activity in a city with no or limited centers, we created a park-let that provides a green space for local connectivity. Park-lets are green spaces in the urban landscape that diversify street activities by providing recreational space and boosting foot traffic for local businesses. The juxtaposition of a natural planted area and varied topography with linear street patterns provides a sense of openness similar to what a mini-park might provide. The Park-let as a localized space can be accessed more readily between work, study and day-to-day activities.
Green Walls and spaces are alive, reactive, adaptive and life-affirming. They deepen our connection to our natural and built environment while imparting pleasure and wellbeing. They increase and enhance biodiversity and livability of urban communities, while also adding oxygen and nitrogen to the air and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Green Walls coupled with seating encourage people to slow down, sit, reflect and engage with their surroundings.
